Street Monkey Marketing

Pull Tab Advertising

It has made a comeback. It may be the economy or it may be too many “monetized” website and news letters.

But old fashioned pamphlet advertising does work.

“Call to Action!”

How many unsolicited email and how many unwanted straight to recycle junk mail do you get. With pull tab, only those that do want your free or low cost product will take a little slip of paper.

I have used this method all be it; in another time. Very effective. Like the Greg list of the typewriter times. Even hand written, (as mine were.)

Then came the fantastic per page copy shops, with many colors. The favorite being ‘Golden Rod.”

Why would there be such a resurgence in this basic form of marketing?

Both the over and mis reported bad news economy, along with the resulting government directed clamp down on small businesses, and pervasive amount of ‘experts’ on advertising and marketing.

A craftsman small business just cannot afford the costs, the time, or insults of many of these marketing experts. So he goes to the quick copy shop.

A little clip art and instant marketing. Find a few Laundromats, a few coffee shops, bulletin boards, and many lamp posts. Soon you mobile phone will ring.

Tips:

Be honest, no one wants to have their home surveyed for a break in.
Offer to meet first in a neutral setting
Find out where they took the tab
Show up as promised
Do real and valuable work
Don’t offer to do it under the table
Say “Thank you”
Clean up after yourself. (Don’t litter the public streets)

Of course beware, every consultant will soon also be calling or spaming you just to let you know that you have done everything all wrong :) again!

Review of The Happiness Hypothesis

The Happiness Hypothesis: Finding Modern Truth in Ancient Wisdom

by Jonathan Haiti

The name of this book is only slighly misleading. It does delve into why someone might not be happy, and reasons to be happy.

I found the references to old ideas from the Torah to Buddhism very helpful.

A book everyone should review or listen to. If you have found it hard to reconcile things teachers and others have told you about yourself you will find this well written book a good resource.

I am re-listening to this, I hope you will enjoy and learn from it as well.

This book discusses set points, and to an extent refutes the concept that you are just born that way and there is nothing you can do about it. He (Jonathan) detail more that one way to reset your set point.

The Positive Opinion

Support

A positive opinion expressed by someone you admire is worth more than almost anything. The one thing that may be worth more is a positive opinion of yourself.

If those you look up to, always find fault with you, it is hard to have anything positive in your heart.

The most positive person I have ever known is standing tall in this photo.

Celebrate Similarities and Sameness

With all the hate and seeking of revenge we know of in this world today; if we practiced finding how we all are greatly more the same possibly a few more would find the inner peace of friendship.

People can remember good things about you

But it seems the character assassination is more known and believed.

A few separate times within that last several days, I was speaking with different people who I knew more than a decade ago and they reminded me that I had believed in them.

This support they let me know was a fundamental significants to the better person they and others had become.
